Ronya Lazgin

Ronya Lazgin is a graduate of Erbil University (LFU), where she earned a degree in English Literature. She is the founder of Kurdechirok magazine, a bilingual cultural and literary publication issued in both English and Kurdish, which aims to promote Kurdish literature and intellectual discourse to a wider audience.
Her professional career encompasses extensive literary and journalistic experience. She has contributed analytical essays, literary criticism, and creative writing to several magazines and newspapers both within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Turkey and Iran. Alongside her journalistic work, she has been actively engaged in translation, rendering a number of short stories and critical articles from English into Kurdish and vice versa.
One of her most significant scholarly contributions is the translation of The History of Kurdish Literature, a comprehensive work spanning seven volumes. This major project represents an important effort in preserving, documenting, and making accessible the intellectual and literary heritage of the Kurdish people. In recognition of her contribution to the field of translation and Kurdish literary studies, she was awarded the Translation Award at the Qalami Hazhar Festival.
She is currently based in Erbil Province, where she continues her work in literary production, translation, and cultural journalism.
