Boushra Rahal Alameh

President

Boushra Rahal Alameh is the President of the Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE). She is a senior higher education leader, and quality assurance expert with more than two decades of experience spanning academic and faculty affairs, governance, accreditation, and quality assurance across national, regional, European, and US higher education systems.
Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in driving academic strategic and quality assurance projects and programs related to continuous improvement. Her experience in quality assurance was recognized by national, regional, and international agencies, where she was invited to serve on strategic committees, present at conferences, and lead accreditation evaluation teams.
She joined KAAE in February 2026. Previously, she served as the Director of Institutional Accreditation and Quality Assurance and Assistant to the Provost for Academic Affairs at the American University of Beirut (AUB) for over 10 years. During that period, she led the institutional accreditation process with the Middle State Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), served as the Institutional Liaison Officer with MSCHE and New York State Education Department (NYSED), monitored the university’s ongoing compliance with accreditation standards, developed quality enhancement plans, and oversaw academic quality assurance activities with external entities including accreditation, regulatory, and registration agencies.

She is a trained Title IX Panelist and an Advanced Civil Rights Investigator Level Five certified through ATIXA. She also served as a member of the National Quality Committee at the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, where she contributed to the drafting of institutional and programmatic accreditation standards for higher education institutions in Lebanon, and is a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Universities Association of Lebanon.

At the international level, she serves, for the second consecutive term, as an arbitrator for the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) arbitration process which facilitate impartial arbitration between institutions and accreditors involving final decisions related to denial, withdrawal, or termination of accreditation. She served also as Peer Evaluator, Vice Chair, and Team Chair of the Evaluation Team for the reaccreditation review of other institutions with MSCHE. She has also served as reviewer with MSCHE for the complex substantive changes for the merger of two institutions in the US.
She has consulted at various institutions, providing expert guidance on strategic planning, development of policies and procedures, overall institutional readiness for accreditation and other related topics in higher education.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Executive Master of Business Administration at AUB. She is completing her Doctorate in Business Administration at École Supérieure Des Affaires (ESA) Business School and Université Côte d’Azur Institut d’administration des entreprises de Nice (IAE Nice) by 2027. Her doctoral research examines regulatory dualities in transnational higher education and institutional legitimacy across borders.
She is a frequent speaker at international conferences, including those organized by MSCHE, and CHEA. She published several manuscripts in refereed journals, and co-authored abstracts and conference proceedings.
