On Sunday 12th of May, 2024 Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired the first meeting of the High Council for the Accreditation of Education and Higher Education Professionals in the Kurdistan Region.
In the meeting, which Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani attended, they discussed the objectives of the council, which are to work to maintain the quality of education and higher education in the Kurdistan Region, by promoting a culture of evaluation in accordance with international mechanisms and standards after adapting to the situation in the region Educational and scientific institutions and curricula.
At the beginning of the meeting, the objectives, steps, standards and plans of the Board of Trustees of Educational Programs and Centers were presented in view of the approved rules of procedure of the council.
After discussions and exchanges, the Supreme Council decided to form a committee to give confidence to the institutions and programs of education and higher education and appoint the members of the committee, then appointed the secretary general of the committee Universities, schools and public and private educational centers should be submitted as pilot projects for accreditation and implementation Criteria-based review tools to ensure academic and educational excellence supported by both the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research.
