On January 23rd, 2025, the University of Duhok (UOD) and the Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education (KAAE) held a Foundational Criteria Assessment Workshop, marking an important early step in the accreditation process for higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region.
The workshop focused on evaluating key foundational criteria, including institutional mission, governance, academic programs, resources, and transparency. Participants worked collaboratively to review each criterion, identify areas requiring further development, and understand the expectations outlined in KAAE’s accreditation framework.
Through structured discussions and guided analysis, attendees gained a clearer understanding of the accreditation pathway and the essential steps needed to demonstrate readiness for progression toward the Eligibility stage.
