Honar Issa

Dr. Honar Issa is a prominent academic and administrator with a background in structural engineering. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok and holds the position of Secretary of the Board. Dr. Issa is also the Chair of the Middle East Peace and Security Forum. His primary research interests lie in biomechanics and structural optimization. He maintains an active research profile, serving as an adjunct researcher at the University of Memphis in the United States.

Dr. Issa’s academic journey began in 2004, and since then, he has worked as a faculty member at various universities in Kurdistan and the UK, teaching subjects related to structural engineering. His experience in both academic and administrative roles has contributed to his comprehensive understanding of higher education in the region.

Dr. Issa is a program evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), a prominent U.S. accreditation body that awards accreditation to engineering programs. He also serves as a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), which accredits institutions of higher education.

Dr. Issa holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.
